God Made Me That Way

It’s time to put an end to the lies of the devil in your life, & there’s a popular one people love to use daily, & it irks me to no end every time I hear it. This one has been on my heart to write about for a while, & it was confirmed for me that I need to say this, when my pastor said the same words I’ve been thinking, in church a couple of Wednesdays ago. You ready to hear them?

Shocking thought, I know, but it’s true. People need to stop blaming God for their flaws, using Him as an excuse for not changing the things they need to change & honestly, don’t want to change.

God is good, only good, & nothing that is bad comes from Him- that would make Him a liar, & He IS Truth & cannot lie. How DARE you have the audacity to blame Him for the sin nature in you! Perpetually late & inconveniencing everyone in your life? Sorry, that’s who I am, God made me that way. Forever the glass-half-empty pessimist? Sorry, that’s who I am, God made me that way. Lack a filter between your brain & your tongue (or fingertips 😉 )? Sorry, that’s who I am, God made me that way. Commitment phobic serial dater? Sorry, that’s who I am, God made me that way. The list is literally endless. People. PEOPLE! Stop telling this lie to yourself & everyone around you!!

Let me break this down for you:

God created Adam in His image, then Adam & Eve fell in the Garden. With the treason they committed, they handed their God-given authority in the earth over to Satan, & brought a curse to ALL of the human race (Genesis chapters 2 & 3). YOU are not created, but pro-created, born into the human race- born with the sin-nature of the curse of the fall IN you. Anything in or about you, that goes against what God’s Word says is good & right, did not come from Him, it came from the fall. See, God did not make you that way, the sin nature you’re born with made you that way.

The good news is, God wants to help you change! He had a plan in place, from the very beginning, to redeem you from the curse, & re-create you in His image. You do not become the person God made you to be, until you not only accept Jesus as your Lord & Savior, receiving God’s forgiveness, but actually ALLOW Him to work in you, making you over from the inside out. THEN, then you can say, “God made me this way.”

Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn & renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral & spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].

-2 Corinthians 5:17 (AMP)
