So many people spend their lives walking around in defeat, telling themselves how bad they’ve got it, how much the world is against them, letting every negative thing that comes their way make them into a victim. It makes me want to scream at them, “Don’t you know the victory has ALREADY been HANDED to you?!!
You have given me your shield of victory. Your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great. -Psalm 18:35
The Hebrew word “yesha” in this verse means deliverance, rescue, salvation, safety, welfare; Brown-Driver-Briggs also includes prosperity, physical rescue, & victory in the definition. This would mean that ALL the battles we now face or ever will face in life, we have victory over already, we need only to walk in it!
That shield? That’s your safety. Your welfare. Your deliverance. Your rescue. Your prosperity. Your VICTORY over everything that might come your way trying to threaten your peace in ANY one of these areas. When you begin to face life’s battles with this understanding of who you are in Christ, you can begin to face them with an attitude of peace & thankfulness, rather than of worry & frustration.
He is our help & shield (Psalm 33:20)
He upholds us with His right hand (Psalm 63:8)
He comforts us & increases our honor (Psalm 71:21)
He sustains & strengthens us (Psalm 89:21)
He delivers us (Psalm 119:117)
Stop living defeated! Refuse to walk through life with a victim mentality, put on your armor (Ephesians 6:13-17), & walk in the victory that belongs to you!
