Thanks for joining me in my new adventure! I am so excited to take this step of faith & begin my blogging journey. My prayer is that we will all be blessed as I follow the lead of the Spirit in what to share each week. I hope you all, especially other single mommas out there, will be encouraged by my story as I allow it to unfold throughout my posts. First things first, let me tell you the story behind “The Honey Seeking Mom.”
In June of 2015, I separated from my now ex-husband. As a “baby” Christian, who had only restored my relationship with God less than a year before this happened, I struggled with whether I should keep believing for restoration in my marriage, or let it go & continue with the next step, divorce.
Not even two months later, I had a very vivid, very real dream, that I still cannot forget- & those who know me, know that I NEVER remember my dreams, & on the rare occasion that I do, there is a meaning to it. I dreamt that I was walking along a path with someone, whom I couldn’t see. I was pushing a stroller, & we were searching for honey. As we walked along the path, we would come upon puddles of honey, with dead bee hives lying in them. Then, we came around a bend, with large double doors to our left; honey was flowing out from underneath them. I went to the doors & was trying to open them, but they would start to open & then pull shut again, as if they were too heavy, or even as though there was some force on the other side pulling them shut. I turned toward the person I was walking with, whom I still could not see, frustrated. “There’s so much honey in here, why won’t these doors just open?” The person simply replied, “There’s more further down the path, just let it go.” And so we kept walking, seeking more honey.
Me being me, when I woke up remembering this dream, I began looking up the meanings of honey & dead bee hives in dreams. I found that honey, being the “food of the gods,” represents seeking righteousness, or to be closer to God. The dead bee hives were representative of a big change coming. With where I was in life, letting God work to make me into the mother He created me to be, & newly separated from my husband, this all made sense, so I left it at that.
Around this same time, I had answered an altar call to be filled with the Holy Ghost, the ability to speak in other tongues & pray in the Spirit. I had begun practicing & exercising this new gift as I was getting ready for work each day. One afternoon, several weeks after I had that dream, I was getting ready for work & praying in the Spirit. And it just hit me: “Hey, remember that dream you had? Well, this is what everything meant:
- The person you were walking with & couldn’t see- That was God
- The stroller, that represented my new life with God
- The dead bee hives- those represented how my husband had stopped putting work into our relationship & marriage
- The double doors I kept trying to open, that was me, always trying to make it work, even though it clearly wasn’t working
- And the honey- The honey represents all the blessings God has for me on this faith walk, as I walk my path of righteousness.
And God Himself told me, there’s more further down the path. So. Much. More. Superabundantly. More. I cannot wait to see what He has waiting, & I’m so thankful for each one of you joining me on this path. Let’s enjoy this honey seeking adventure together!
Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen. – Ephesians 3:20,21 (AMP)
Gerri, I have watched you grow from a baby christian to a lovely strong woman of God. Your walk has been such an inspiration for me. I see all the wonderful things that God is doing in your life and it is both thrilling and humbling. I loved your blog post, we all need to remember that God has a supernatural abundance of blessings for those who will walk with Him and follow His path and plan for our lives. I’m excited to see what else you do. I love you and thanks for bringing me on your journey.
